There were one or two complaints about the length of this one, many believing that - with just five or six minutes more - the match could have gone down as an all-time classic.

As it was, it was merely a match of the year candidate - but, really, the length made perfect sense. Brock and Joe are among the more authentic-looking WWE combatants, and the focus on high-impact moves and submission maneuvers gave it the feel of an MMA bout (albeit one that began with a pre-bell ambush).

They didn't tend to go more than a few minutes, and to be fair, Lesnar was in desperate need of another comprehensive victory after months of being Goldberg's punching bag. Job done - and no-one can say Joe came out of it worse off.
