An exception to the 'longevity' rule, Miz and Mizdow served two functional purposes: give Miz, a born heel, something to sink his teeth into once again, and put together an act that is completely outside the box and unique. It capped off Damien Sandow's run of impersonating random people prior to some pointless 'comeuppance' moment, and this gimmick would get 'Mizdow' over in droves. As it were, Mizdow was the 'stunt double' (in reality, more of a dedicated understudy) to his Hollywood thespian partner, and would replicate every strike and every bump performed by Miz, to the point of making even jaded fans laugh at the absurdity. The act turned Mizdow into a genuine star, and revitalized Miz. Shame they blew off the split so poorly.
