Some will roll their eyes at Randy Orton's inclusion here.

Objectively though, nobody can say that WWE didn't book the 'Viper' well. Orton's standing in the company means he may always be protected, but that's not straightforward nepotism. It's merited after decades of service at a high level and the fact that Randy is capable of being one hell of a heel.

His feud with Edge has unfinished business despite seemingly peaking with the so-called "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever", and Orton parlayed that feud into a short WWE Title tilt opposite Drew McIntyre later in the year. There, he justified Vince McMahon's faith by putting in a shift at SummerSlam, Clash Of Champions and Hell In A Cell.

Orton can soak up losses like a sponge as well - look at his surprisingly quick Payback defeat at the hands of Keith Lee for proof of that. The punt-loving baddie has become part of the furniture in this company, and it's great that he's heel again.
