When most musical acts appear at the Showcase of the Immortals, they don’t all get the chance to do something as unique as Run D.M.C. did at WrestleMania V. Possibly the biggest rap act of that time performed the WrestleMania rap right in the middle of the ring.

Whereas the moment is one that isn’t greatly remembered, it will go down as a moment that opened doors for music artists from all genres to work with WWE on a different level. Despite being given a customary Howard Finkel introduction, Reverend Run, DMC and Jammaster Jay didn’t get the biggest reaction from the crowd as they performed a song written specifically for that event.

With no way of hearing it beforehand - having never been played on radio - the crowd came off confused, yet seemingly impressed that the biggest hip-hop group in the world was in the ring ahead of the Mega Powers exploding. Not quite a moment that comes to mind when thinking of classic WrestleMania events, but one which paved the way for Snoop Dogg, Bad Bunny and others to steal the show in the future.
