10 Best Crowd Chants From WWE SummerSlam 2016
1. “Goldberg”
Finally, we have another contribution that may well have
been more of a joke than anything, but personally I know it got my hopes up all
the same.
Much like the crowd had called for Slater in the aftermath of Reigns' brawl with Rusev, they figured they had the perfect idea for injecting some excitement into the enforced stand-off that followed Brock Lesnar’s splitting of Randy Orton’s forehead.
Those familiar, drawling “Goldberg” chants slowly but surely filled the arena, in a farfetched piece of wishful thinking but one that would surely have resulted in a moment for the ages had Goldberg showed up and had a pop at Lesnar.
Now, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Goldberg versus Lesnar in 2016 would be any better than it was in 2004 (not that it would be too difficult to top it) but in the absence of a conclusive finish to the match, I could think of far worse ways for SummerSlam to have gone off the air on Sunday.
