2. “We Want Slater”
It’s 2016 and in the second-to-last match on the SummerSlam
PPV we’re getting chants of “we want Slater”. What a time to be alive.
In the aftermath of the pre-match brawl between Rusev and Reigns, and with Rusev being tended to by doctors at ringside, the crowd determined that the only way to rescue this likely-to-be-abandoned match was with the introduction of Heath Slater. There was also a brief “CM Punk” chant but I think we’ll just gloss right over that one...
In all seriousness though, it’s great to see Slater getting the recognition that his continually awesome work deserves. He’s helped make this “hottest free agent” shtick one of the most entertaining features of WWE programming.
It may have been a slightly tongue-in-cheek reference here, but if Slater continues the way he’s going, why not afford him a United States Championship match somewhere down the line?
