6. “Jon Stewart Sucks”
Support for Jon Stewart during his backstage segment early
in the show wasn’t all that overwhelming. It was a damn site better than the
reaction he got when he later made his way out to the ring, though.
Somewhat anti-climatically, Stewart unzipped his hoodie to reveal that he’d be standing side-by-side with the New Day in light of Big E’s absence. The most likely explanation to the disinterested response was because pockets of the audience were simply too busy singing “Jon Stewart sucks” at the top of their lungs.
Personally I thought this was a little harsh. Sure, Stewart’s been allowed to play slightly too prominent a role in the past, but that’s not necessarily his fault. He’s not the one writing the show and his actual personal performances have been far more convincing than some of the other celebrity guests we’ve seen in the WWE. At least he looks genuinely enthusiastic out there.
Luckily Stewart seemed to take it in his stride, eventually making it up with his next contribution…
