10 Best Cruiserweight Wrestlers In The World Today

6. Manny "La Sombra" Andrade

WWE's Global Cruiserweight Series may itself be a new development, but it's just the latest step in the company's recent shift to focusing on talent over size. Granted, WWE still has a long way to go when it comes to truly pushing smaller wrestlers the way they do larger ones, but things are quite different than they were ten years ago. Case in point; the recent signing of La Sombra. La Sombra made his wrestling debut a month before his 14th birthday, and having wrestled for nearly half his life, he's become an expert. Not only is his ring work flashy, compelling, and cerebral, but he exudes a charisma that poured through his mask to make him a huge star in Mexico. Before his departure from CMLL, he'd reached the pinnacle of lucha libre - he was a founding member of Los Ingobernables, a former CMLL Universal Champion, and he'd lost his mask to the legendary Atlantis in the main event of the company's most recent anniversary show. His poaching by WWE was CMLL's loss, but NXT will certainly be stronger for it. Competing under his real name of Manny Andrade, the luchador has yet to make his television debut, but he's been wrestling for the brand since January. Perhaps Sombra will make his first TV appearance with the company in the Global Cruiserweight Series - a win in the tournament would get him off to a great start.
