10 Best Cruiserweight Wrestlers In The World Today
4. Zack Sabre Jr.
For nine straight years, the legendary Daniel Bryan won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Best Technical Wrestler Award, an unprecedented record. When Bryan's reign ended in 2014, though, it was British star Zack Sabre Jr. who won the prize. Arguably the best hold-for-hold wrestler in the world, Sabre has drawn many comparisons to Bryan, and his career may end up being as successful as the "American Dragon's" was. Sabre came up in the U.K. independent scene with star grapplers like Jim Breaks and Johnny Saint as his idols - while also taking inspiration from Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Jushin Liger. Sabre's puroresu influence is clear in his hard strikes, and his hybrid style has won him acclaim in Japan and the U.S. as well as in his home country. Recently, Sabre ended his long association with Japan's Pro Wrestling NOAH in favor of competing more regularly in the U.S. for promotions like EVOLVE Wrestling. Given EVOLVE's relationship with WWE, he's considered a top prospect to compete in the Global Cruiserweight Series.
