In what was quite possibly the match of the year for 2013, CM Punk and Brock Lesnar put on a superb display of contrasting styles that should have removed a whole lot of doubt from naysayers who think Lesnar is overrated inside the squared circle.

Going into it, CM Punk made the bold declaration that he wasn't afraid of Brock Lesnar, which is a pretty ridiculous thing for anybody to say, considering how much of an unstoppable wrecking ball Lesnar is.

And Punk looked pretty foolish for having said that during the first few minutes of the bout, which was an endless barrage of power moves from the big guy.

The rest of the match, however, was as good an example of David slinging some well-placed stones at the mighty Goliath as there ever has been. It's one of the biggest cliches in commentary, but Punk truly did "pull out all the stops" during this encounter.

His cleverness, agility, and opportunism balanced out Brock's brutality and freight train force, making for an utterly barbaric game of chess.

Punk's never looked more heroic than when he started popping Lesnar in the head with forearms and working over his legs with kicks. Even if Punk lost the match due to interference from Paul Heyman, that loss did more to boost his image as a courageous badass than a thousand wins over someone his own size.
