The hatred wrestling fans have for Justin Credible is somewhat justified. After all, he continuously came off as a douchebag, crotch chopping his way to the ring and posing as if he was ECW's balder, less-talented version of Shawn Michaels. He was so clearly trying to be cool that he became anything but. Still, one cannot allow their personal feelings about the character get in the way of the fact that he was one of the better champions the company ever produced. The date was April 22, 2000. After years of being publicly humiliated under the guise of "Portuguese Man-o-War" Aldo Montoya in WWE, Credible gained credibility by defeating Tommy Dreamer and capturing the ECW Championship. With "The Queen of Extreme" Francine by his side, Credible enjoyed a run at the top of the company, despite taking a critical bashing. Victories over Lance Storm and Tommy Dreamer strengthened his title reign. Unfortunately for Credible, his run with the title came to an end when he lost to Jerry Lynn at Anarchy Rulz. Still, despite the loss, Credible hung around the main event scene for the remainder of ECW's existence, competing in several championship rematches.
