Yes, this was the charming period where Vince McMahon was challenging 'God' to a fight, and ordering the omnipotent overseer into a tag team with Shawn Michaels. While Vince and Shane's handicap match with Michaels was absurd, it was also a pretty enjoyable bout, in keeping with the far-fetched silliness that was once matches involving Vince.

For the most part, Backlash 2006 was just a humble follow-up to WrestleMania 22, but with a couple of spectacular matches. Cena continued his run as WWE lead dog by going over on Triple H and Edge in a WWE Championship three-way that won match of the night honors. In an honorable second place was Rob Van Dam's Intercontinental Championship win over fellow freakish daredevil Shelton Benjamin.
