10 Best Goldust Matches Ever
9. Goldust Vs. Chris Jericho (Superstars, March 4th 2010)
Superstars wasn’t a show blessed with the greatest reputation or legacy. Making an argument that a superstar wrestled one of his best matches on the show could be considered an insult. All this makes the contest between Goldust and Chris Jericho from 2010 even more impressive.
In 2010, Goldust was firmly established as lower card talent. After uneventful stints on the ECW and RAW brands, The Golden One found himself on SmackDown. Coming at a time seemingly barren for quality from Goldust, this match flew under the radar of many but is one of the most pure and simple pleasures from WWE at the time.
Chris Jericho was enjoying another one of the spells in his careers that fans lauded as his best yet. His heel persona was easily one of the most successful of the modern era, rooted as it was with a knowledge and understanding of ring psychology.
It is in that understanding that this match flourishes. On the surface a simple squash for the then World Heavyweight Champion on a C-show, this match benefits from the experience and work rate of both men.
Jericho reacted to Goldust like rivals did in his heyday and Goldie came back from every setback with impressive energy. Both men knew how to make each other look like a million bucks. They clearly relished the freedom that the contest allowed them.
