10 Best Heel And Face Turns At WWE WrestleMania
6. Shinsuke Nakamura - WrestleMania 34
Nakamura's heel turn was the far more interesting of the two WrestleMania 34 character shifts. Prior to this Sunday, the SmackDown star had shown little to no proclivity for evil, yet saw fit to inflict upon opponent AJ Styles one of the worst pains known to man.
The beauty of this moment is that so few of us saw it coming. Going into the event, Nakamura and AJ's feud had the whiff of a classic face versus face rivalry borne from a genuine mutual respect between the two competitors.
The King of Strong Style deciding to break from type felt like something fresh and original, a watershed for a WWE main roster career which has so far flattered to deceive. He now has new impetus, the opportunity to reinvent himself after being rigidly confined for so long.
Importantly, it also breathes new life into his ongoing programme with the WWE Champion. Without a flipping of the script, feuds of the "no, you're the best" variety tend to fizzle out after one pay-per-view outing. This one now has the legs to last well into the spring.
