10 Best Heel And Face Turns At WWE WrestleMania
5. Stone Cold And Bret Hart - WrestleMania 13
Double turns can be hugely risky, so much so that there are only a handful of examples in the history of WWE, the most famous of them coming at WrestleMania 13, where Stone Cold and Bret Hart swapped roles right in the middle of their Submission Match.
In so doing, Austin dropped his heel persona in favour of a never-say-die good guy, the image of him, face dripping in blood, refusing to tap out to the Sharpshooter instantly endearing him to fans watching on TV around the world, for whom he soon became a cult hero.
By contrast, Bret Hart morphed into the most lamented kind of heel: a wrestling establishment figure determined to keep the hungry up-and-comer down (a role that, for obvious reasons, he was absolutely made to fill).
This all worked to such brilliant effect that that those in the arena ended the show cheering exactly the man they were instructed to boo in the build-up. It was masterfully done, and the sort of bold booking decision that is sorely lacking from today's product.
