10 Best Impact Wrestling World Champions Of All Time
2. AJ Styles
Until his departure in December 2013, AJ Styles was always classed as Mr TNA, and for good reason. He had been there from the start, had been part of Impact's only five star match in history (as of writing at least), and was the inaugural X Division Champion. The Phenomenal One was an asset to the company.
When he finally won the big one at No Surrender 2009, it felt like it was long overdue. Mainly because it was. His stature may have held him back a bit, with Impact perhaps hesitant to put their main title on a flippy guy from the indies as opposed to a former WWE star as had been the case with the previous few champions. Once the three count was made though, it instantly became one of Impact's best booking decisions in a long time. AJ's alliance with Ric Flair during this period added that extra something that made it feel much more special.
His second run with the gold in 2013 was another excellent story as everyone knew he was on his way out of the promotion, something Impact actually utilised in the story which led to Magnus' run with the title. It's a rarity these days for a wrestler to have multiple reigns with a championship, and have each reign be as good as the last.
