10 Best Irish Wrestlers Ever

1. Sheamus

The ginger one himself. Realistically Sheamus was the only choice as our number one in the list of greatest Irish wrestlers. Starting out as Seamus O€™Shaughnessy (or SOS) in Irish Whip Wrestling, Sheamus was scouted by the WWE and undoubtedly hired for his size, but he just so happened to have the charisma and technical abilities to boot. Debuting on ECW, Sheamus originally used his native tongue when cutting promos, but the gimmick was quickly dropped as officials noticed the potential in the young bruiser. Having held both major titles in the WWE for prolonged periods of time, Sheamus has become a staple of the upper-mid to top card for the past few years. Beating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania in 18 seconds is one of only many high points for the Dublin-born wrestler, and with a few years left in the tank, there€™s plenty left to go... ...okay, so the last few years of his booking have been spotty at best, but Sheamus can always float into the main event WWE Title picture, as evidenced by his transitional run in late 2015.

As a pretty nerdy guy, I've loved film and television since I was a wee lad. Growing up in Ireland, The Den was the show to watch with it playing Batman The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and everything in between. I have an MA in Radio and Television Production and have written for various sites, hope you enjoy my articles/lists for What Culture!
