At Victory Road 2011, Jeff Hardy had the lowest moment of his professional career when Eric Bischoff had to decide on the fly to end The Charismatic Enigma’s match with Sting. Hardy was on drugs, lots and lots of drugs, and was barely able to walk to the ring. A snapmare takeover from him would have likely been impossible to execute. It was an embarrassing way to end the night and sullied the letters "T N A."

One year later at the show, Hardy took on Angle, needing to prove that he could be trusted, and that he was still capable of being a top guy. The match alleviated a lot of management’s fears. Hardy was at his best, and Angle as a heel did a great job of making the younger wrestler look sympathetic.

In the storyline, Angle was out to prove to his son that he was better than his favorite wrestler Jeff Hardy. That made the match extra personal, and made Angle’s cheating to win that much more heelish.

The result of the match proved that Hardy could still go in the ring and further cemented the legacy of Angle as one of the best of his generation.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
