10 Best Kurt Angle Matches
2. Chris Benoit (WWE Royal Rumble 2003)
When WWE celebrate Kurt Angle's timeless career, they 100% won't be mentioning his battles with Chris Benoit. There are good reasons for this, of course, but it means their analysis of Kurt's run can never be truly exhaustive. Benoit, like it or not, was one of Angle's biggest and best rivals-come-partners during his peak.
At the 2003 Royal Rumble, both came together to perfect their formula and dish out a wrestling magnum opus that spat right in the face of Scott Steiner's weary attempts to be a WWE headliner. After his stinker with Triple H on the same card, Benoit and Angle could have been forgiven for moving at half speed.
They didn't, they set a new standard for what was expected from a WWE Title bout.
When watching, do your best to forget the misery of real-life tragedy to come and remember that Benoit was one hell of a pro wrestler. He and Angle gelled like only the best combinations do, and they saved their absolute best for one of WWE's premier pay-per-views.
