Matches don't need to be long to be considered greats.

At SummerSlam 2002, Kurt provided a stunning entry point for Rey Mysterio on WWE pay-per-view by beating him without making the masked phenomenon look weak. For the nine minutes both were given, they gave the fans one of the best opening matches in supershow history. This, if you've never seen it, is essential.

Nobody could have bridged the gap between Rey's Cruiserweight roots and WWE's heavyweight style better than Angle did in Uniondale that night. Every bump, spot, hold and counter was painstakingly designed to make Mysterio a star to casual WWE fans whilst maintaining Angle's credibility.

Praise is easy to lavish when revisiting it for research, and it's a mark of the bout's success that this writer watched it twice to really understand how stunning a job Kurt did for Rey. Watch this one on repeat to warm yourselves up for other classics.
