10 Best Matches In ECW History

7. Tajiri Vs. Steve Corino - Hardcore Heaven 2000

The Tajiri that the WWE Universe would come to know and love was fun-loving to a degree, and a little bit silly despite being more than capable in the ring. These fans will be surprised then to find out that ECW Tajiri was a violent man who didn't really cater to the comedic, focusing instead on kicking people as hard as he could.

His one-sided destruction of Steve Corino at Hardcore Heaven in 2000 may very well be his finest ECW moment. The feud between the two sparked off when Tajrii won the Television Championship and refused to hand it over to The Network. All of this led to this match.

Corino starts the bout off with a supremely intense heel promo that doesn't hold back on the racism. Whilst this is never welcome in professional wrestling, the story takes the right turn as Tajiri comes out to the ring and proceeds to kick Corino's head in for 10 minutes. Not only this, but the crowd were willing Yoshihiro on with every kick.

Corino bled and bled, and eventually Tajiri put him out of his misery. Sure, it isn't a technical classic, but as far as story goes this match could not have been any better.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
