Speaking of aborted Ziggler pushes, as 2012 came to an end he was embroiled in a beef with none other than John Cena, the biggest wrestling star of this generation. Dolph's Money in the Bank briefcase was on the line in this Ladder match, and many assumed Cena would come out on top because Cena. Many were wrong however, and Dolph won after help from AJ Lee. The Ziggler/Cena feud is remembered for many of the wrong reasons, including those that involve faeces, but taking it as a standalone this match is absolutely fantastic. It is another shining piece of evidence in the case for John Cena being a top quality modern WWE wrestler, as I think this was the first time in forever that he busted out the hurricanrana. Ziggler more than played his part as well, hanging with Cena at every opportunity and looking like a true main event performer in the process. AJ also cemented herself as a character way ahead of everyone else in the Divas division. It was win-win-win, that rarest of wrestling beasts. 2012 was a hell of a show however, as this legitimate four-star match gives way to the best match in WWE TLC history.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
