10 Best Matt Hardy Matches

A worthy pay-off to a story brilliantly told over 2007, the injury-riddled Matt Hardy/MVP programme was yet again enhanced by a real-life knock as the awkward frenemies reached their final destination. Uneasy Tag Team Champions Matt and Montel had both gone down with various issues over the summer months, resulting in WWE finding increasingly oddball ways to keep them on television. The hugely anticipated collapse of the unit was an equally enjoyable spin on a traditional wrestling trope.

The Miz and John Morrison were the wily ones to take advantage of the devious MVP's chosen night to strike. The 'Captain' of the team allowed the pair to decimate Hardy's knee en route to winning the titles, but fought for them to have an immediate rematch for the straps.

Hardy had only worked the bulk of the match to preserve the supposedly bum leg of his partner, and was forced into more screaming agony when the second match commenced. Matt's selling was sensational throughout, augmenting the violent post-match turn by his former partner.

Removing his boot and brace with a view to retire his rival, MVP's viciousness was perfectly pitched to set up Hardy's heroic return from a real-life burst appendix at the following WrestleMania.
