10 Best Money In The Bank Cash-Ins Ever
6. CM Punk (First)
Heading into WrestleMania 24, Jeff Hardy looked like a favorite to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. Unfortunately, after qualifying for the bout, he was suspended for 60 days due to a second violation of WWE's Wellness Policy. That suspension would force him to miss WrestleMania and the match, and the briefcase would end up claimed by ECW superstar CM Punk.
In the draft lottery that June, CM Punk was moved to Raw, but the show lost a major asset in the form of WWE Champion Triple H. He was randomly selected to go to Smackdown, meaning that the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship (held by Edge) were both property of the blue brand. Batista, who had been drafted to Raw in the lottery, had a chance to claim Edge's title at Night of Champions, but came up short thanks to La Familia.
The following evening on Raw, Edge made a guest appearance on the show to brag about how thanks to him, Raw fans would never see a world title defense again. That brought out an angry Batista, who attacked Edge, leaving him laying.
'The Rated R Superstar', who had twice benefited from the Money in the Bank contract to claim gold, found himself on the other side of the equation as CM Punk hit the ring, briefcase in hand. Punk cashed it in, drilled Edge with the Go 2 Sleep, then pinned him. In one fell swoop, the independent darling had become a world champion in WWE and brought gold back to Raw.
