The moment the nWo officially formed as a group was their best moment, and was also one of the biggest moments in wrestling history. Staring in 1984, Hulk Hogan became the face of professional wrestling throughout the world. He helped make the sport popular again, and brought the WWF to heights never before seen in the industry. He was a hero, a man who told children to say their prayers and take their vitamins. He didn’t have an evil bone in his body. But it was all a lie.

At Bash at the Beach 96, he told the fans to “stick it” and joined up with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to take over the wrestling world. Over the next couple of years they nearly succeeded, too. All of WCW’s best came at them, and they all fell. Once again, Hogan helped make wrestling cool again as millions of people snatched up nWo shirts, and tuned in every week to see what they were going to do next.

The industry has never been the same since that summer night in July, and fans who witnessed it live are still recovering from the shock of their hero going bad.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
