One of the biggest flaws of the nWo was that they didn’t get enough babyfaces over during their lengthy run. While the group was very succesful, part of its legacy is the damage they did to many of the careers of some long time WCW veterans. But without the stable, Diamond Dallas Page would have never become a main-eventer.

Page was a journeyman who didn’t start training to be a wrestler until well into his 30s. He was starting finally get over as a character when he met up with The Outsiders. Then Hall and Nash made him an offer on an episode of Nitro to join their group, and his response to the proposition solidified him as a star.

Most wrestlers would have jumped at the chance if offered, and DDP appeared to sign on when he put on the nWo shirt. Then Hall shook the newest members hand, and was pulled right into a Diamond Cutter. Page then tricked a confused Nash to fall over the top rope, and the crowd went crazy.

Page reached a new level that night in the fans eyes, and it was one of the moments where the nWo could put their egos aside to give a non-member a big boost.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
