10 Best NXT Matches Of 2016
3. The Revival Vs #DIY (NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II)
One of the best feuds of the year anywhere in wrestling, the in-ring chemistry between The Revival and #DIY has been something to behold this year. After teasing that the two might break up for a while, NXT did the smart thing by keeping Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano a team and the fans reaped the benefits of seeing these two tear it up with Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.
Their NXT tag team title match at TakeOver: Brooklyn was a flawless display of modern tag team wrestling. From Dawson heelishly shoving Ciampa off the turnbuckle during his entrance, the dirty tactics of The Revival, the extended heat section on Ciampa, the hot tag to Gargano, the creative double teams, and the dramatic near falls; this one had everything a fan could ever want from a tag team bout in 2016. The action built tremendously to the heartbreaking final moment when Gargano had to tap out to Scott Dawson's inverted figure four after The Revival's brutal assault on his knee.
Oh, and they only went and bettered this classic match at the next TakeOver special. That brings us neatly onto my No. 2 pick...
