2. 2 Out Of 3 Falls: The Revival Vs #DIY (NXT TakeOver: Toronto)
To say expectations were high for the rematch between The Revival and #DIY would be something of an understatement. Yet these teams didn't just match those high expectations at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, they actually exceeded them. This match was that good.
Playing off their previous bout tremendously, the storytelling in this one was top notch. The moment when Johnny Gargano was once again trapped in Scott Dawson's inverted figure four was hugely dramatic, while #DIY hitting the Shatter Machine on Dawson has to be the best near fall of the year in wrestling. The match built to a rip-roaring conclusion with Gargano and Ciampa both locking in their submission holds and forcing Dawson and Wilder to tap out simultaneously to finally get their comeuppance.
Ciampa and Gargano winning the NXT tag team titles was undoubtedly one of the best moments of the year. Many will have this one as their pick for match of the year, and I couldn't blame them. This was a stone cold classic between two of the best tag teams in the business today. For me though, there is one match which bettered this in NXT in 2016.
