10 Best NXT Matches Of 2019 (So Far)

6. Street Profits Vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch Vs The Undisputed Era Vs The Forgotten Sons (TakeOver: XXV)

NXT TakeOver NY 095
WWE

A jaw-dropping throwback to NXT's time as an over-achieving developmental brand on a night that toasted its rich past, the mindblowing ladder war for the company's vacant doubles straps was far more than the exceptional carry-job it may have first appeared.

A stunt show with a story, the clash rivaled the seminal North American Title match despite the inexperience of some of the competitors. Pushing them without pushing them to the point of over-exposure, it was precision-engineered with Street Profits' glorious win clearly in mind the entire time. This book-from-the-finish-backwards logistics management has driven some to accuse NXT of feeling a little to clinical, but it's for these younger performers when the guidance can be utter gold.

The Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly did the structural heavy-lifting, threading many of the moments together by giving his back to the brawl with some hellacious bumps. Elsewhere, The Forgotten Sons were given focus to remember for a change, whilst eventual winners Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford became the defacto underdog babyfaces ahead of an utterly gripping conclusion.
