Having been shunned from his spot in the main event scene, Roman Reigns has been on the receiving end of something of a demotion; now challenging for United States rather than World Heavyweight honours.

And most importantly, the change in Reigns’ position on the card seems to be actually benefitting him. As mentioned previously, this week’s Raw saw a very confident performance from Reigns as he took to the mic in his segment with Rusev.

There was a swagger, a bravado, and a whole lot of charisma, in a display that was ever-so-slightly reminiscent of some of the early work of a certain cousin of his. Granted it wasn’t quite as good as the Great One, but it was certainly along the same kind of lines.

And one of many one-liners uttered by Reigns came with Rusev becoming riled and removing his jacket, prompting the former world champ to advise he “put that beef away” with a dismissive wave of the hand.

For the confidence and the charisma demonstrated here, this was a hugely significant moment for both Reigns, his future direction, and his standing in the eyes of his many detractors.
