10 Best Opponents For John Cena At WWE WrestleMania 33

8. Finn Balor

As much heat as John Cena has received for not putting over younger talent over his career, that certainly isn’t the case anymore. He’s put over Daniel Bryan, A.J. Styles and Dean Ambrose cleanly over the past few years. He takes his role as the top draw in the company seriously, and is willing to put aside his own ego for the good of the business. He may see Finn Balor, and believe the first Universal Champion would greatly benefit from a win over him.

Again, the brand split issue doesn’t have to be any sort of problem here. They could just run an angle saying Cena has earned the right to take on whoever he wants at Mania (similar to how he chose Daniel Bryan for SummerSlam 2014). He could say he’s seen Balor in NXT and Raw and believes he deserves a WrestleMania moment. He also wants to prove that he’s still the best in the business, and that the future has to go through him.

The match itself would likely be a blast, and Balor’s entrance would be phenomenal. Even though the gap in their ages really isn’t that big (about four years), fans have seen Balor only a fraction as much as Cena. It would feel like a battle of generations, and would have the possibility to become a classic.

If WWE is set on Cena working with younger talent, Balor would be one of the best choices they have in their arsenal.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
