10 Best Opponents For John Cena At WWE WrestleMania 33

7. Bobby Roode

A match with John Cena would be a glorious way for Bobby Roode to make his main roster debut.

If we’re being honest, Bobby Roode is not someone WWE will build around long-term. Like A.J. Styles, and John Cena, he’s 39 years old. He’s a great worker, and hasn’t taken a ton of crazy bumps, so you can imagine he still has a few years left as top-level worker, but he's just not a face of the company type act.

A Cena/Roode match wouldn’t need to be booked to position Roode as one of the top stars over the next few years, but would be used as a way to give Cena a feel good win at WrestleMania. That outcome is not as insult to Roode in the least, as a match of that caliber is something that would have seemed out of the question for him a couple years ago.

You can imagine, unlike some other NXT callups, that Vince McMahon will actually really like Bobby Roode and want to invest in him a bit. He has an old-school wrestling style, and he has a fantastic entrance that the boss will likely have some fun with. He also has a ton of experience and wouldn’t feel out of place in a big match at Mania with the right build behind him. He’s a reliable worker and would be sure to create a compelling heel/face dynamic with Cena and be able to put over the man clean without losing anything in the process.

There’s certainly worse ways for Roode to make a living than by battling the top draw in the industry over the past decade at the biggest show of the year.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
