10 Best Performers In WWE Money In The Bank History

2. Edge

But before CM Punk, there was of course Edge—the Ultimate Opportunist.

It was his affiliation with Money in the Bank that essentially earned Edge that moniker. Not only did he win the first-ever match, he cashed in on John Cena when the champ was down—something that many people had failed to realise was even an option.

After that he went on to pretty much rob Mr. Kennedy of his Money in the Bank briefcase, which enabled him to implement a second successful, and equally dastardly, cash-in on the Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Simply put, the match made Edge a star. But his success wasn’t earned without paying dues along the way. Who could forget the Jeff Hardy’s death-defying drop onto the Rated-R Superstar, which snapped the ladder he was prone on as well as god knows what inside of him.

Today, we look back at Edge as an 11-time world champion, one of the greatest entertainers in WWE history and the most decorated champion the company has ever seen. And without his performances in the Money in the Bank ladder match, that likely would not be the case.
