10 Best Pipebombs In Wrestling History
2. MJF - 1 June 2022
The ongoing contract issues between Maxwell Jacob Freidman and AEW boss Tony Khan were hardly a secret. For months, MJF had openly discussed in interviews that he was open to joining WWE when his contract ended in 2024. Despite this, those issues had never seen the light of day on AEW television. That is, until Wednesday 1 June.
The Long Island native took to the ring days after his loss to Wardlow at Double or Nothing and quickly put his former heavy behind him. Turning his attention to Tony Khan, he brought up the company's desire to re-sign him quietly. Calling his employer All Friends Wrestling, Max Said he had to hit a grand slam every time, which he did. MJF then acknowledged the controversy over Double or Nothing weekend, where fans called him an unprofessional piece of sh*t for no-showing fan fest.
The Salt of the Earth then speculated that the reason he was not offered the money he feels he is worth, is because he did not come from WWE like so many of AEW's major stars. Friedman would close his electric promo by telling Khan to fire him and calling him a "f*ucking mark" before his microphone was promptly cut off.
Where this story goes, nobody knows, but three weeks removed, this promo is already being looked at as one of the best pipe bombs in wrestling history.
