Before he was Xavier Woods, Austin Watson wrestled for TNA as Consequences Creed, with a name and outfit inspired by Rocky Balboa's most famous adversary. Creed was immediately put into a tag team with Ron "The Truth" Killings, but when Killings left the company for WWE, Creed became a part of the X Division.

Following battles with Kazarian and Petey Williams, Creed teamed with current Ring of Honor World and Television Champion Jay Lethal to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Though their reign was brief, the two continued to team up as "Lethal Consequences," feuding with Suicide.

After leaving TNA, Watson continued to use the Creed name and gear. He went to New Japan Pro Wrestling, teaming with Kota Ibushi in the first-ever Super J Tag Tournament, and just a few months later, he defeated Tommaso Ciampa to win the prestigious ECWA Super 8 Tournament.
