Perhaps the most difficult emotion for wrestling to evoke is sadness, but there was little else to feel whilst watching Mick Foley make his involuntary exit from the company. There's not a moment of Mick's slow walk through the backstage that didn't make you pine for the man, whether it was telling a near-tearful Sami Zayn that he's proud of him or wordlessly hugging it out with Bayley. They're smartly-played moments as well as poignant ones, linking Foley to the superstars whose stories heplayed a role in, rather than just having him congratulated by all of the brand's major babyfaces. All things considered, it was probably the most emotional moment of Raw in 2017 so far.

As touching a departure as it was, it also brilliantly served its storyline purpose of inciting audience hatred towards Triple H. Rarely has The Game seemed so eminently detestable as when he callously dismissed Mick with his own 'Have a nice day!' catchphrase and turned his back on him, laughing cruelly like an actual supervillain. A segment that went from tugging at the heartstrings to inciting great anger at the injustice done to Mrs Foley's Baby Boy is the only fitting departure for a legend of Mick Foley's status.
