10 Best Raw Segments Of 2017 So Far
6. Foley & Rollins Stand Up To Triple H (13 March)
Mick Foley's constant belittling at the hands of Stephanie McMahon was a genuinely irritating situation throughout the man's tenure as Raw General Manager, especially for such a legend of the business. While he would constantly rebel in small ways, the moment when he definitively, unambiguously stood up to her and roared about how she deserved to be fired was joyous, and a definite improvement on the status quo. Mick has always made an excellent anti-authority figure since his breakout babyface run as Mankind, and seeing him stick it to the McMahon regime one more time was a treat.
Foley's uplifting defiance culminated with the crowning glory of his stint as Raw GM, attacking Triple H with the Mandible Claw in what might be the final appearance of Mr Socko. It was a righteous moment filled with emotion and Attitude Era nostalgia, and only improved upon when Seth Rollins entered the fray, dramatically casting aside his crutches to start brawling with Triple H. The audience often fails to get behind the wrestlers that WWE wants us to, but Seth has never felt like such a hero before or after this moment, his justifiable anger shared by every one of us, all hoping for him to give Triple H the beating he deserved. This segment wasn't groundbreaking, but it's conventional WWE storytelling at its finest, encapsulating the excitement and the drama that sports entertainment provides when done right.
