10 Best Split-Brand Pay-Per-Views In WWE History
6. Judgment Day 2006 (Smackdown)
By all accounts, Judgment Day 2006 shouldn't have been a very good show. Though Smackdown's roster had talent, the storylines on the show were getting stale and a lot of the feuds weren't making the best use of the stars available. Despite all that, Judgment Day was great, with every match performing at or better than expectations.
The best match (not surprisingly) was a 21-minute Chris Benoit-Finlay contest where the two wrestlers simply went out and did an excellent job. The show also saw exciting title matches in the form of Gregory Helms defending the Cruiserweight Championship against Super Crazy and Paul London and Brian Kendrick capturing the WWE Tag Team Championships from MNM.
The main event - Rey Mysterio defending the World Heavyweight Championship against JBL - was excellent from a dramatic standpoint. JBL beat Mysterio down to the point where it looked like Rey wouldn't be able to answer the referee's ten count. In the end, though, Mysterio hit a 619 and a splash to retain the belt.
