Sport: Baseball Gimmick: Baseball Player Turned Wrestler During The 1994 MLB Strike Again, the WWE tries to exploit a professional sports strike and places Steve Lombardi, best known as "The Brooklyn Brawler" as a disgruntled baseball player who turned to wrestling. Lombardi is known as one of the greatest jobbers of all time. He was known for his tough guy, tattered shirt wearing, New York resident image. In 1993, MLB goes on strike, and like they would do in later years, the WWE would try to capitalize on this publicity and debuted "Abe 'Kunckleball' Schwartz." Fittingly he wore the number 00, and would picket Monday Night Raw. Knuckleball was another short lived gimmick and seemed to disappear as fast as it came. After his gimmick came to an abrupt end, Lombardi still remained in the WWE to forever be the guy who loses a match to get up and coming superstars over. He has found a place in fans hearts as one of those unsung heros and still occasionally appears on television.
Brandon Tischer is an avid wrestling fan who has been watching since he was a kid. He, along with his friends, have made a pact to never miss a Wrestlemania together.
