10 Best Things That Ever Happened During Wrestling Commercial Breaks

We'll be back after these messages, but you've gotta stay put to see the REAL good stuff!

Recently, two editions of Monday Night Raw had a reduced number of commercials thanks to a short stint on SyFy in the United States.

If this development passed you by (for example international viewers, who had a fairly typical experience, or non-psychopaths, who no longer park themselves in front of the television for three live hours of this thing in 2022 when there are so many more digestible ways to engage with it), WWE are not doing their job.

Wrestling should be a pulsating, reality-bending joyride for the TV viewer. Mere escape from real life just isn’t enough anymore. Have you f*cking seen real life? Wrestling should be an escape plus taking anybody’s negatives and giving them two positives. You know, one to offset the first negative and one...just to have a positive. You need it. Nay, you-de-serve-it, clap clap clapclapclap.

Breaks are breathers, but why should breathing be such a necessity in this other, better realm? The best wrestling shows should have you cursing the ads like an epic prestige drama cutting away on an awesome cliffhanger or incredible reveal.

But if commercial breaks if absolutely have to exist - and capitalism always b*stard wins so strap in - maybe they could at least all go like the below? The conversation’s better than the second screen doomscroll, right?

10. AEW & Dominos Pizza Sync Up

MJF's Labours Of Chris Jericho scheme was particularly devilish because it aimed not just to physically and mentally exhaust the Inner Circle leader ahead of a potential match between the two but to force him to constantly consider exactly how much he wanted their singles match after all.

He had to survive the challenges with enough gas in the tank to be fighting fit seven days later, all just to get his hands on the 'Salt Of The Earth' down the road. Never was the logic and stability of his decision-making brought into greater focus than when he had to go to war with deathmatch icon Nick Gage and his signature insanity.

Amongst other slices of pure chaos, Gage attempted to carve one from Jericho's forehead with a trademark pizza cutter attack. All good, and by those in the know, expected. Some questionable luck for AEW unfortunately saw him go big with the prop during a picture-in-picture shared with a spot by Domino's.

As the days and weeks passed, no news broke of the sponsors losing their minds at the supposed sacrilege. It was p*ss funny stuff really, unless you happen to be one of those odd Twitter dweebs that tried to report the whole thing to your local law enforcement.
