10 Best TNA Feuds Ever
4. Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong
Long before WWE's women's revolution, TNA successfully set the women's wrestling world ablaze for a brief spell with the inception of their Knockouts division. Fronted by Gail Kim, the TNA women's scene was greatly bolstered by the arrival of the uber-menacing Awesome Kong.
Fresh off a transformative period in Japan, Kong convincingly brutalised everyone unlucky enough to get in the ring with her. In the meantime, TNA positioned Kim as the babyface ace of the division. After becoming the first ever TNA Knockouts Champion, it was clear Kim was in for a rough ride as the champ when Kong was lined up to be her nemesis.
At Turning Point '07, Kim defended the gold against the seemingly unbeatable Kong in the first part of a commendable trilogy between the pair. Serving as a heat-builder of sorts for the battles to come, their first clash, though heated, ended on a surprise DQ and post-match brawl. The two matches that followed raised the bar for women's wrestling in the States at the time as the pair traded blistering, big-bumping wins.
Kim sold convincingly in all three bouts as a hopelessly outmatched underdog being ragdolled by a scarily stronger foe. Kong, even without any real mic time, made her vicious attitude and longing for the title clear. For the Impact Zone, this was a groundbreaking angle between two showstealers at a time when Vince Russo's perplexing booking was often anchoring the men's main event scene.
