6. Kurt Angle Vs AJ Styles - Hard Justice 2008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLMSnfBQC00 Although billed as a Last Man Standing match, this was actually contested under Texas Deathmatch rules, in which the standard ten count must follow a successful fall. Although many may, at first glance, expect a match between Angle and Styles to be a technical masterpiece first and foremost, the most striking thing about this contest was the lengths either man would go to hurt the other. AJ threw himself around as usual, taking a nasty back-suplex off the stage, but Angle was in for a great deal of punishment as well - most notably from the top-rope DDT which ended the match. The story behind such brutality was a feud centred around personal issues (AJ accidentally married Karen Angle, which is a ridiculous storyline, but would you expect anything else from professional wrestling?), and the ending was given a fitting touch of reality. Having taken the aforementioned DDT, Angle brilliantly sold his notoriously fragile neck, making it seem as though he physically couldn't get up even if he wanted to. It was a major victory in the career of Styles, as well as a definite highlight of Kurt's illustrious career as well.
