10 Best TNA Tag Teams Ever

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are two of the best X-Division wrestlers TNA has ever had, but as a tag team, they were even better. The Motor City Machine Guns formed in 2007 (originally going by the Murder City Machine Guns before being forced to drop that name). Despite their talent as a duo, they were mainly used to put over other teams in division during their early days.

It wasn’t until Team 3D declared war on the X-Division did they start to break out. Along with Jay Lethal, The Guns saved the entire division from extinction after beating Brother Ray, Brother Devon and Johnny Devine at against All Odds. The tag titles still eluded them, but eventually got their shot against Beer Money in a great best-of-five series in 2010. They came out on top and went on to have a six month run with the gold.

Soon after their reign ended, Sabin was injured, keeping him out of action for months. When he returned, management was no longer interested in The Guns. Despite having one of the best teams in the world, they were barely used. Shelley had enough of being underutilised and asked for his release.

Currently they have joined forces again in Ring of Honor. It’s nice to see them back together, but it’s a bit of a shame they couldn’t have extended their legacy in TNA.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
