10 Best TNA Wrestlers Who Didn't Win Gold

3. Monty Brown

Monty Brown really shouldn't be on this list. It is often brought up when discussing TNA and their inability to pull the trigger on certain individuals on their roster, but never has a ball been missed as terribly and as woefully as the botching of Monty Brown.

When TNA began, it was a land of old veterans and upstarts, with not much in the way of organic heavyweight stars in the middle. Monty Brown was their one hope, a ridiculously charismatic man with a big pop finisher and seemingly no ceiling. The crowd were desperate for him to become their world champion.

As it transpired, TNA felt the right thing to do was to turn him heel and align him with the champion, Jeff Jarrett. This was quite clearly the wrong thing to do.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
