When Montel Vontavious Porter signed with TNA in 2014, it truly felt like a major marquee signing for the company. Whilst MVP was indeed another former WWE talent, he was one who had taken himself out to Japan and become a star over there, rebuilding and increasing his reputation as a result. He was the sort of man TNA could have really utilised at the top of the promotion moving forward.

As it transpired, 18 months after making his debut as the mysterious 'investor' that signed The Wolves, MVP was gone. Montel was installed in a position of authority throughout his tenure, which allowed him to put himself into a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match against Eric Young. Before that match could happen however, MVP tore his meniscus and wasn't cleared to compete.

PWInsider claimed at the time that MVP was scheduled to win that match, and as it transpired that was as close as he got to gold in the company.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
