10 Best Traditional WWE Survivor Series Matches Ever

8. Team Hogan (Hulk Hogan, Don Muraco, Paul Orndorff, vs Team Andre (Andre The Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed & Rick Rude) - Survivor Series 1987

Not the best Survivor Series match by any stretch of the imagination, but as a sheer spectacle the first PPV's main event it is potentially unrivalled. The two larger-than-life teams were absolutely tailor-made for the cartoonish Hogan era, but didn't entirely fit the classic "good guys vs bad guys" mould. Hulk's squad consisted of two recently-turned babyfaces in the form of Don Muraco and the untrustworthy Paul Orndorff, as well as the returning Ken Patero and hot newcomer Bam Bam Bigelow. Andre's formidable heel team (infamously reported as legitimately weighing close to a tonne) featured the hulking monsters of King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, and the One Man Gang, with Rick Rude providing a slightly more slimy figure for the crowd to detest. The match was booked fantastically, allowing for both Andre's immobility while playing on the expectations of the fans (who were, of course, waiting for the inevitable confrontation between Hogan and the Giant following their legendary WrestleMania III showdown). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_uzUHW63xI When the pair finally clashed, Hogan was shockingly eliminated shortly after as he was counted out while brawling with the heels on the outside. This allowed Hulk to retain his air of immortality while putting over the new star in Bam Bam, who put up a brave - but ultimately futile - solo performance against the three remaining heels, eliminating two of them. Great storytelling throughout.
