10 Best Traditional WWE Survivor Series Matches Ever
7. 10 Team Elimination Match - Survivor Series 1988
The long-defunct 20 man tag versions of the Survivor Series format resulted in some of the most chaotic, frantic, and downright enjoyable matches in the PPV's history. They also showed off the outrageous depth of the WWF's roster at the time, who comfortably filled such a match with their many tag team stars without having to drag any main-eventers down from the top of the card. This match featured some of the most fondly remembered duos in wrestling history, including The Rockers, The British Bulldogs, and Demolition, and such a wealth of talent helped prevent the bout from descending into an overcrowded mess. The action was rather frantic as you'd expect, but was expertly stretched out over 40 minutes without dragging or becoming too repetitive. The winners were The Warlord and The Barbarian (aka The Powers of Pain, a slightly shameless Legion of Doom rip-off), who benefitted from a split between Mr Fuji and Demolition to win the match and adopt the manager as their new mentor. It was a slightly nonsensical and needless angle, one which may well have cost the bout a few places on this list, but didn't prevent it from being an absorbing watch - particularly from a nostalgic point of view. Interestingly, The Fabulous Rougeaus were eliminated very early to prevent the Bulldogs' Dynamite Kid from exacting revenge upon them for a backstage incident, in which Jacques had knocked out a few of his teeth with a roll of coins.
