10 Best Undercard WWE Matches In Royal Rumble History

4. Bret & Owen Hart vs The Quebecers - WWF Tag Team Titles (1994)

This, of course, is where Owen Hart officially turned heel after weeks of jealousy over his brother being teased on television. The post-match heel turn overshadows the match itself, and unfortunately for Owen, his memorable promo botch after the turn ("That's why I kicked your leg out of your leg!") actually overshadows the heel turn, but the match itself is fantastic technical wrestling from all four men. The match built up to a spot where Bret fell out of the ring and kayfabe injured his knee. That's when the story of Bret being a "glory hog" really kicked into overdrive. Even with his knee hurt, Bret continued fighting in the match, even though he had a completely healthy tag team partner on the apron, waiting to be tagged in. Owen was getting noticeably more angry on the apron, and Bret was continuing on, with the picture being painted that he was a valiant fighter, never wanting to give up. Eventually, he couldn't go on any further, and after his knee gave out, the match was stopped. The Quebecers had won, and Owen was standing there, incensed. The Quebecers, Jacques (Rougeau) and Pierre (Carl Ouellet), are two of the more underrated performers in WWF history, and this was one of their brightest spotlights while with the company. They didn't disappoint, and they certainly more than lived up to their end of the deal here, even though the story was all about their opponents.
