For those of you unaware of the origins of the Crow version of Sting, it was a period of time in Sting's career, where for an entire year he was entirely silent. That's right, he didn't utter a single word. Instead of talking and wrestling, he hung out in the rafters and observed. Fans would see him appear ominously in the top decks, staring down at the nWo, watching them carry out all of their misdeeds. After a few months of this, he began to rappel from the roof and appear from under the ring, in order to attack the nWo. He'd also conduct 'loyalty tests' where he'd provoke various members of the roster and allow them to attack him while his back was turned. This was a nice way to establish where certain stars' alliances lied.

It was a gimmick that set WCW apart from WWE back in the day, one that helped them to claim the top ratings spot for over a year. While a lot of people might just say that AEW is merely copying a classic and hence are unoriginal, one thing that is for sure is that AEW would definitely put their own unique spin on it. Plus, it would make the nostalgic fans pop really hard.
