5. WCW Spring Stampede 1999
WCWs later years werent kind to it, and pay-per-views became exercises in frustration for wrestlers and fans alike. The Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington on 11th November 1999 saw the Spring Stampede event deliver probably the last great WCW pay-per-view card before the promotion died. Juventud Guerrera vs. Blitzkrieg was a near five-star classic to open up proceedings, with Bam Bam Bigelow and Hak (ECWs Sandman) delivering a blistering hardcore match immediately afterwards. After a brief lull, business picked up again when Rey Mysterio Jr. successfully defended his title against Billy Kidman in a truly thrilling match. Three quarters of what would become WWFs Radicalz fought (with Raven) in a gripping tag team match, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko bearing Perry Saturn and Raven in fifteen intense minutes. Scott Steiner and Booker T tried hard in the final of a tournament to determine the new US champion but couldnt quite follow that match, Steiner beating Booker for the vacant title. That left Goldberg to defeat Kevin Nash in a nothing match, and an exciting star-packed four way match for the world heavyweight championship saw Diamond Dallas Page beat Sting, Hogan and Flair for the big belt, a result that shocked the crowd.
